Overview

Jun Ma is a registered patent attorney who focuses his practice on prosecuting and counseling of patent applications. As a scientist and inventor with technical expertise, Jun uses his experience to help inventors protect their intellectual property assets. With an extensive research and development background as an engineer and product developer, Jun understands the technical needs of any product and how they relate to a strong patent. Jun is passionate about the details of technology and innovation and he knows that the details of an invention are what sets a client’s product apart from the competition. To best serve his clients, he dives deep into each invention to understand these details before moving forward. Jun analyzes their innovation and works toward creating patent applications that will protect it indefinitely.

Prior to joining the firm, Jun was a patent agent and then a patent associate in the Minneapolis, Minnesota headquarters of a national full-service intellectual property law firm where he specialized in patent procurement and preparation, patent prosecution, patentability assessment, freedom-to-market clearance for new product/technology, and other aspects of IP counseling for domestic and international clients from Fortune 500 corporations to micro entities in technical areas which included chemical, pharmaceutical, materials, life science, biotechnology, mechanical, software, and consumer products.

Jun began attending law school as a part-time evening student while working as a Product Development Specialist in the headquarters of a multinational conglomerate corporation operating in the fields of industry, worker safety, U.S. health care, and consumer goods where he led research and development efforts in its new technology innovation and new product commercialization in the fields of industrial chemicals, polymer science and engineering, coating/film/adhesive, radiation process, vapor disposition, vacuum process, plasma treatment, and manufacturing technology.

As a graduate research assistant at Washington University, Jun focused on synthetic polymer chemistry with an emphasis on the design, synthesis, and application of macromolecules with a well-defined structure, latent functionality, diverse architectures, and the abilities to transfer into nanoobjects for biomedical applications.

Throughout his research and development career, Jun has authored 17 peer-reviewed research articles published in various scientific journals and procured original-filed patent applications that include a wide range of products and materials.
